What good is social media...
... if I can not remember all my various freakin' user ID names and passwords????
Have you noticed that now certain sites are starting to alert you WHILE YOU TYPE as to whether or not your password is poor, good, great? And they say your password has to include one upper case letter, 2 non-consecutive numbers, a special sign, and be 8 thingies long!
I long for the olden days when everywhere I went online, I used the same user ID and the same password and life just flowed and flowed. Now, I find that if I suddenly want to comment on something a colleague posted on LinkedIn, let's say, I can't because I can't remember my freakin' password!! Multiply that times the 17 trillion other social media sites I'm connected to, and it all gets very, very frustrating.
I count myself seriously lucky that I can still remember how to access my email and my online bank account. By some miracle I am still accessing Twitter even though I have the weirdest password I ever dreamed up on that site. I had been forgetting it many times over the month I was in Europe because it was sort of similar and sort of not to my ridiculously strange iTunes password, which is my life blood, in a way. Yet somehow, I have managed to keep those passwords in the grey matter, and now when my laptop asks me if I want it to remember a particular new password, I shout, "YES!!! YES, I DO!!!"
After my hard drive crashed here recently, I find I am a stranger to a whole lot of sites that used to know me really well. And now that I am wearing so many different editor/ agent/ book scout type hats, I need to be on social media almost constantly. I don't post much, but I am at least constantly trawling the waters. (No, not for fish or dead people! For great new writers!!)
Hm. Okay. I seem to have been on a little rant there! Yay.
Well, aside from that, it's a fine Thursday morning here. It is quite frosty but sunny out there and feeling like it is every bit of December first. Mom and I are going to a jazz concert tonight -- our first in many, many months so I'm looking forward to that! And other than that, and a conference call from Bristol, I am going to spend the day in consideration of going on a diet. (Yes! December is now officially underway, launching the massive holiday season and for some reason I'm contemplating going on a diet. I think what I'm really wanting is to go crazy as quickly as possible and that idea seemed like the quickest route...) (Yes, gentle readers, I am going to re-think that thought ASAP.)
Okay, let's get Thursday underway around here, shall we?? Make it a good one, gang, wherever you are and whatever you're doing or thinking about doing or re-thinking about thinking about doing!! Yay!! Thanks for visiting! See ya!
[Those happier days when we weren't so social and didn't have any passwords!]
