Queen of the Italics

Good lord, I have been at this Kindle formatting project all weekend and I am not even halfway done.

In order to ensure that the electronic version of the manuscript looks good in all the various e-reading devices, I "nuked" the manuscript to strip it of all its formatting. "Nuking" means to highlight your entire doc -- in my case 560 pages -- copy and paste it into Word Notepad, close WORD, then re-open WORD and then copy and paste from Notepad back into a Word doc and, PRESTO CHANGO! An entire manuscript without a trace of formatting!!

The tedious and laborious side of this is that you have to go back into the manuscript and re-bold & italicize everything.

It turns out that I am the queen of the italics, gang. Well, I knew this already because this is not the first manuscript I've re-formatted for electronic publishing, however it is the longest one I've re-formatted. The darn book goes on forever and there are italics on practically every page!! (Perhaps I exaggerate, but not by much...)

Meanwhile the new cover art for the Kindle edition is complete! Yay!! I regale you with it here. (Thanks, Valerie!!)
