Bonjour Paris! Hello Bristol!

Spent the morning so far getting everything booked for my trip. The transportation to and from the Paris airport; the flight from Paris to Bristol. Don't you just love that feeling that everything is organized and ready to go?

Of course, you get to these airports and it all goes haywire, but I'll deal with it when it needs to be dealt with. Until then, I'll sort of bask in that feeling of being completely organized.

Yesterday was the 84th anniversary of Rudolph Valentino's death. According to author Wayne Hatford, who attended the (annual) ceremony at Hollywood Forever Cemetery, it was a superb event! Probably a lot more uplifting than August 23rd, 1926 was...

We had the most wonderful morning around here, even though it involved a very severe thunderstorm and at least three fire engines dashing madly to fires most likely caused by lightning.

Around 5 AM, the storm started. It was really cool outside, all the windows had been open all night, the breezes were wafting in, along with the smell of the rain falling on all that summer green stuff. Both Buster & Bunny were on the bed with me as I drifted in and out of sleep. The bed, the sheets, the pillows -- everything just felt so cool & soft. It was so nice.

The storm lasted for 2 hours. Around 6 AM, I got out of bed, fed all the cats, put the coffee on, opened the screen door so that I could watch the whole wet/windy craziness of the storm for a little while. It stayed dark out until just about 7 AM.

One nice thing about thunderstorms -- I don't turn on the computer during storms. So my morning "consciousness" stayed my own for a couple hours after I was awake. Just had one little lamp burning in my bedroom -- one of the now "old-fashioned" bulbs that have such a nice warm, non-blue, non-artificial type glow to it. It was just a perfect, peaceful, wonderful couple of hours, gang. Even though the storm was raging like mad outside.
