Happy Non-Reluctant Monday, gang!!
Yes, as loyal readers of this lofty blog learned recently, I am not reluctant about the arrival of Mondays. And this particular Monday is spectacular for so many reasons:
1.) The weather couldn't be finer! At last!! It is in the upper 60s (Fahrenheit), sunny, low humidity. It's all about open windows and screen doors this morning!!
2.) I'm working with one of my favorite clients for a couple hours today and then having lunch with Mom.
3.) I had really lively and wonderful dreams last night. Vivid and easily recalled in my dream journal.
4.) Twilight of the Immortal got a truly wonderful critical review. I will let you know when it is published (in print & online), but I saw an advance copy of it in my email this morning and was truly & delightfully blown away.
My new screenwriting project continues to make me really excited, gang. I did a lot of studying over the weekend. However, I swore to Bill yesterday that I was not going to get "carried away" with research (this particular screenplay is based on a true story about a woman that takes place among black farmers in the poor rural south. But not the Deep South.). The last time I researched an era, it took me 9 years to finally finish researching it (Twilight of the Immortal). I would like this screenplay written in something like 9 weeks. (Okay, well, not including the 3 weeks that I'll be in Europe... ) (What would be really nice is if I were feverishly penning it straight through the holidays and unable to stop for even a moment and enjoy myself during my favorite time of year!) (It would be sort of like having a house guest for an entire month and having nothing but a relentless heat wave pretty much the entire time he was here! How fun is that??? Yay!!)
Which of course reminds me... Bill leaves bright and early tomorrow morning, gang. The time has just flown. While we were making dinner yesterday, I said to Bill half-jokingly: "Watch, as soon as it's time for you to leave, we'll finally get a break in the weather and it'll go down into the 60s and be really lovely."
Well -- Tah -dah!! So now I guess we have most of today to cram in every single thing we had planned to do while he was here but couldn't do b/c it was too fucking HOT!
Last night, we watched Louis Malle's film Murmur of the Heart down in the family room. I had told Bill the other day, that if he ever felt up to reading a bunch of subtitles, I was pretty sure that he would love the film. Yesterday evening he felt up to it and he loved the film. It's a long movie and it's entirely in French, but never would a great, charming, playful, intense, funny, emotional, scandalous film like this one be made in America, gang. Check it out if you haven't seen it yet and if you're up for subtitles and films that could never be made in America!
Okay, on that note, I gotta scoot! For one thing, my coffee cup is empty! I have yet to get so compulsive about working on my laptop that I move the coffee maker into my bedroom, so I'm heading down to the kitchen, gang -- where the sun is shining, the breezes are blowing, and the world is waiting for me to stop working for at least a nanosecond! Have a great Monday, wherever you are, gang, and thanks for visiting!! See ya!
[The view of my front yard today from my open screen door! Isn't it funny how a break in the heat & humidity can change the way you see everything???]
