Windows open & screen doors! Yay!
Finally, a break in the relentless heat and humidity, gang! I bounded -- yes, bounded -- out of bed around 6 AM this morning and the first thing I did was throw open the doors and windows. It's funny how quickly you can forget what that feels like -- air that's bearable; a world that's beautiful.
Bill and I took a little walk around the neighborhood yesterday evening and we could tell the weather was finally getting ready to change. But it was nothing like how it felt this morning: an intensely lovely 69 degrees Fahrenheit with blue skies and low humidity.
Even though it has felt kind of insane around here -- between the intense heat, the frequent thunderstorms, and my crazy birthday (!!) -- we have actually been getting a lot of stuff done. And even though I have a ton of projects still on my plate (I wouldn't recognize my life otherwise, gang), there is now a feeling of progress and organization and even sort of a sense of calm! Yay! Thanks, Bill! (Even though I am undertaking yet another really cool screenwriting project as of yesterday, so let's throw that on the pile.) (And I already pitched it a little bit to a couple Hollywood people and the response so far is "hey, let me see that when it's ready!" Yippee ki yi yay!) ( I don't actually skip down the street, or wear my hair in braids, or bring a big pink balloon around with me wherever I go, but that's how I feel about all my projects, gang. Perhaps it's my avatar that looks like that...) (To be honest -- and I mean absolutely frank -- I actually get excited when I hear that old song "Hooray for Hollywood". In fact, the other night, when Bill and I were at the Ohio Theater to watch Bringing Up Baby, the organ player played "Hooray for Hollywood" before the movie started and I got all excited and told Bill, "Oh, I love this song!!" and he looked at me very politely and sort of thoughtfully nodded his head. It didn't occur to me until much later that I am just super-duper, unbelievably corny because I really do love that song.) (Well, I'm corny for other reasons, too, but I think that reason there gets some sort of award.)
Anyway. I have some emails to catch up on around here. I haven't been able to spend too much time online these last several days just b/c it was too damn hot! The little laptop was burning my fingertips! So I'm gonna scoot now and get caught up on those while I still can.
Meanwhile, I leave you with this bouncy little ditty!! ["Hoo-ray for Hollywood; that screwy ballyhooey Hollywood..."] Thanks for visiting gang! See ya!
