Crimony, is it hot out!!

The heat index for today and tomorrow is supposed to be around 107 degrees Fahrenheit. Meaning, the actual temperature will be 99 degrees but it will feel like 107.

Not only is Bill here but my sister is also staying here for awhile and naturally the AC is on the blink again! Yay!!!!

Well, it works but only for a few hours at a time; then it freezes over and I have to shut it down. The good news, however, is that the home warranty people are sending out another repairman this afternoon and truly excited loyal readers of this lofty blog will instantly know what this means: That's right; TWO requests for a repairman to fix the AC in one season which means that THIS TIME they actually have to either fix the fucking problem or give me a brand new central AC unit. So this cloud definitely has a silver lining. (The other part of the silver lining is that I have house guests who are incredibly easygoing and tolerant, not to mention more knowledgeable than I am about AC units.)

The other great news, of course, is that the AC in my car is on the blink now, too. It needs more coolant and a new air filter. Yesterday, I thought I was going to die, driving around in a truly hot car with hot air blasting in all the open windows and the open sun roof. And when I pulled up to my driveway, I discovered that my sister had brought in my empty garbage cans (yesterday was trash day) which was such a fucking incredible sight b/c I didn't think I could even find the energy to get out of my car, let alone drag the empty trash cans up the driveway and stick them in the garage in 100 degree heat, you know? Plus, she'd bought pizza. Yay. So it was unbelievably incredible to come into this semi-cool house, to these really congenial and laid-back house guests, and just eat pizza. Double, triple "yay."

Before I forget, here is a direct link to download the podcast of that radio interview I did on Sunday (thanks again to Bill for lining that up for me, and for Lilycat for such a fun interview!):

Of course, the most important news of all: Guess what arrived in my mailbox on Monday??? The DVD of Rango!! Yay!! Kind of just in time for my birthday! (Which is FRIDAY, folks!!) (I know!! it got here so fast, didn't it??) (And now all of you who forgot to get off your butts and buy me a birthday present can say, "Shoot, I bought you the DVD of Rango for your birthday, Marilyn! But since you already have it, I guess I'll return it and get you something else," and then time will whizz by and I'll forget all about my birthday even having come & gone again. So you're off the hook until next year...)

Okay, I'm heading down to the kitchen for more iced coffee, then I think I'll collapse for awhile and quietly anticipate the arrival of the AC repair guy! What a terrific day, gang!! Hope yours is just as sweet wherever you are! See ya.

[Me, loving suburbia to death!!]
