Exhausted beyond words!!

Okay, okay. If I really were exhausted beyond words then I would have nothing to write about here, would I?

But I truly am exhausted. I've been trying to stay up later since it's summertime, but the cats still keep waking me at 4:30 AM. Then I immediately start scribbling in my dream notebooks before I forget my dreams, then I go around the house feeding the various cats. Then I think, okay, as long as I'm up, let me just get the tea water boiling... and then before I know it, I'm awake and doing stuff and yet still totally exhausted.

The Good News!!

I stepped into the shower late last night only to discover I had no hot water. Upon investigating, I discovered the hot water heater is broken (again). Why is this good news???? Because it continues to teach me how to pull money out of my hat! Like magic! Yay. (followed by sighs of unbelievable exhaustion.)

The other good news????

The library had great DVDs yesterday so I stocked up for the holiday weekend. Not that I intend to spend the entire holiday watching DVDs, it just pays to be prepared! As truly loyal readers of this lofty blog no doubt recall, I am a serious fan of the old Poirot television series that used to be on A&E but was made in England. The library had the special 2-hour movie of Lord Edgeware Dies. I have already begun watching it so I am in heaven, gang. (Yes, even though I've seen it a few times before.)

While I was watching it last night, I was keenly aware of the last time I saw it:  I was lying in bed in the beautiful old apartment on West End Avenue. I was still married to Wayne, not dreaming that we would split up or that I would ever move away from Manhattan.

Oh well. Instead, we have a rather different scenario, don't we? But at least Wayne & I are still friends. In fact, yesterday, I went to the post office to ship him a cool children's book about old country music and a Dylan CD I knew he would love. Plus, I knew he would love getting an unexpected package in the mail! Yay. Who wouldn't?? Too bad the occasional "packages and emails and phone calls and lunches & dinners in New York once in awhile" work a lot better than the "24/7 till death do us part" thing. The world can be such a bittersweet place, amigos, can it not??

Well, on the picnic table front -- my cousin's husband is assembling the table for me in my backyard. It is almost done! And then I will stain & weather-seal it. (My cousin suggested I découpage it!! What a marvelous idea! However... I'm giving it a redwood stain instead.) Still, I cannot believe I almost have that picnic table of my dreams, gang!! I'm not sure when we will have the first official cookout to launch the table -- my cousin is having the 4th of July cookout this year, so it'll be some time after the holiday. (My cousin, by the way, has given me permission to actually use her name here once in a while -- which is Marcie!) (She drew the line at including her social security number, street address, and cell phone number.)

(In case you're curious, about a thousand people a day read this blog, so I'm not always comfortable using people's actual names here unless they are other writers who are already all over the Internet... But my stalwart cousin does indeed have a first name!!)

Okay. A quick update on my little rabbit. He is so comfortable now in my yard, that he just comes hopping in through the garden gate in the evening, regardless of what's going on in the yard. Last evening, my cousin's husband had the drill going and we had the planks of wood all over and were piecing together this 6 foot picnic table, when here came the little rabbit, completely at ease, just hopping in through the garden gate and heading for the food. He stuck around for over an hour, eating. It's just too cute!!

All righty. Another stunning day out there today, gang. But since I have to wait around for the water heater repairman, I will not really get to go out and enjoy it. But that's life sometimes, right, folks? Have a wonderful Thursday, wherever it finds you. Thanks for visiting! See ya.

[Parting shot of Fluffy! I turned around and discovered her unbelievable cuteness, so I had to share! See ya, gang!]
