Lovely Rainy Friday
It's kind of nice out there today, gang. Peaceful. It's only 64 degrees Fahrenheit right now, with rain. It means I can save a ton of money by not having to water my gardens or my lawn.
In the town that I live in, water is very expensive. We sub-route it, or something like that, from Columbus's water, so we have an added fee. I'm not really sure what all is involved, I only know that every time I turn on the sprinkler or the hose, it costs me a fortune. I realize there are probably little kids all over town today who are upset b/c they won't be able to go swimming -- and I remember how disappointing that feels -- however, I'm always glad when it rains in the summertime around here! All my little flowers and trees are saying, "Hallelujah!!"
I want to take a moment to mention that a poet I really admired, Cheryl B., died over the weekend in New York City. She was struggling with cancer. Details on her memorial can be found here. I participated in a couple of readings with her over the years in NYC and she was a real pistol, gang. Really sharp, funny, full of life.
Here she is reading some of her poetry earlier this year.
