Wow, make that: Suddenly WEDNESDAY!
How the hell did that happen? How did we jump from Sunday to Wednesday??
I have vague recollections of it being 5 AM a few times, and I was watching all that James Bond stuff with Fluffy while I had my breakfast(s) in bed (we have since finished watching From Russia with Love and have now watched almost all of Goldfinger -- see post below).
I was also doing my yoga last night (listening to the new Deepak Chopra CD, the Secret of Healing Meditations -- I have all the CDs in the series; they are so cool to listen to while doing yoga), and I suddenly thought, "hey, wasn't I just doing this same thing a few minutes ago??" When, in reality it was more like 24 hours ago...
I also recall having tons of dreams every night -- and a lot of dreams about gay guys. One night, I can't remember which night b/c time is flying for me right now, but I dreamed that the character Niles the butler from the TV show The Nanny was my best friend and he was standing in my living room, facing away from the picture windows. (I'm not saying the guy who played that character "is gay", I'm only going to say that the character always seemed extremely gay to me. Anyway.) I was standing in my kitchen, looking at Niles, who was in the living room, and then suddenly I saw this enormous cruise ship sailing up my driveway, heading directly for my picture windows. I screamed out, "Niles, lookout!!" But it was too late; the cruise ship came crashing through the front of my house and it crushed him. It was really horrifying.
Well, I don't know -- I was wondering if maybe it was some parable about AIDS? The enormity of cruising? The impact of cruising? I literally can not count how many of my gay male friends died in the 80s & 90s from AIDS, and for all of them -- well, cruising was just a way of life. It just went without saying. (Including my first husband, who used to go crusiing with my best friend, Paul, after we were married and not only did they go cruising together (with my blessings), they also went to bed together and -- fast-forward a few years -- they both died from AIDS. If you're up for something really chipper and happy, you can read my essay about it, "Goodbye to the Gaiety", in the anthology from Random House a few years back, Mr. Wrong: Real-life Stories about the Men We Used to Love , edited by Harriet Brown.)
Well, I wasn't expecting that tangent... Sorry.
I only wanted to say that time is flying. I'm working, working, working, writing, taking my course from L.A. at night, watching a ton of action movies, studying the DVD lectures on early Christianity, doing yoga, suddenly finding that days have flown by...
But, HEY, guess what??? My daffodils and hyacinths are making some serious progress!! It is really beginning to feel like spring out there. Still chilly, but SUNNY. So exciting. Every time I go into the grocery store, I'm assaulted by giant displays for Guinness!! Yay!! St. Paddy's Day is just around the corner!!
And miracle of miracles -- it looks like I have found a lawncare guy who will not only cut my grass every week but will also weed my gardens every week FOR LESS than what I pay the other lawncare guys to just cut my lawn. I am so psyched!! Finally, I will have reliable help with my entire yard all summer. Between that and everything else in my life being so astoundingly perfect, I get the feeling I'm in the process of having a most spectacular year!
Okay, on that note, I actually have to get moving here. I know it's only 6 AM, but I have to be out the door in an hour & I still want to play some records before I bounce outta here. Have a great Wednesday, wherever you are, and don't forget gang, Friday's Coming !! Thanks for visiting. See ya!
