You know, I think that instead of just recording the Golden Globes tonight, I'm going to bite the bullet this year and actually watch them. I really, really think that old What's His Name is going to win and I want to see that, not just play it back in the morning.

I don't know why awards shows skeeve me so much, but they do; they really make my skin crawl. I have nothing against awards -- I love awards! -- but something about the televising of the whole process makes it seem so self-conscious & forced & vain.

But that's just me, and I will attempt to get over myself. I think I'll wear my jammies and snuggle down in the family room with the cats. Maybe even make popcorn -- be a good sport! A brave, TV-watching, proud American who leaks happy fluids over the mere thought of Entertainment Awards! (And if all else fails, I'll just "close my eyes and think of England" until they announce the Best Actor in a Comedy or Musical.)

...and if he doesn't win, I'll write "an angry letter to the Times!" (Just kidding -- a Woody Allen line from Casino Royale.) But I will be crestfallen. and, you know, suspect a conspiracy...

So.

What is it about Sunday mornings that just cries out for a yummy breakfast??? I don't know, but here's what's left of my egg, bacon, waffle, OJ, & coffee! (All of it organic, of course.) Aren't these dishes lovely? They're Wedgewood. A gift from my Uncle. Service for 8, plus the completer set, and complete coffee service! (I am a fiend for dishes. I don't know why. The Wedgewood isn't even my best china. Someday I will regale you with the porcelain I inherited from my grandmother. Which actually just got "topped" the other day, when I brought home Lennox Imperial china, circa 1952 -- Gus Van Sant's parents' wedding china. I'm not going to say why I own it now, I just do. And I'm a pretty happy camper about it, gang, I must say!!)
