Happy New Year, gang!!

Wow, it is 54 degrees here already! It actually got up to 61 yesterday -- and sunny! I was able to take my walk for the first time in weeks. And, yes, I actually did do a little work in the backyard. I didn't even have to wear a coat, just a sweater. And it was really fun to squish around in the soggy yard in my favorite red Wellies with the sun shining.

But today, at least for now, it is raining like crazy. So we'll see if I get to take another walk this weekend or not. I really miss it.

Meanwhile, yesterday was quite fun. Many phone calls from well-wishers in other states. Also had my phone conference with Jerry around midday & that always makes me really happy. Even though I am introverted, I certainly do miss my friends.

And NO!!!! I did not have 9 cocktails last night! Or even 8 -- I would be in the hospital right now if I had. I think I had maybe 4, but they were REALLY weak and mostly Diet Coke & ice. But, you know, I was still feeling pretty happy-happy. I watched part of Plaza Suite, but that got super depressing, so I watched the original Casino Royale, which is always hysterical. And a young friend who is in the Army now stopped over for an impromptu visit -- so it was nice to see him. (And, yes, I am not only old enough to be his mom, I am literally older than his mom by 7 years. Unreal!!) (And NO!!! we are nothing but friends. For him, it's like, "Hey, I'm home on leave, I think I'll go visit that crazy silver-haired wacky lady up the block & say hi." Well, it's sort of like that.)

And also, just to clarify b/c these things make my mother very nervous:  NO!!! I am not planning on learning "The Daughter of Rosie O'Grady " on the piano (also known as "Sweet Rosie O'Grady.") That is, like, a Bugs Bunny song (from "A Hare Grows in Manhattan") & it cracks me up, you know??? The one song I thought would make my cats (or anyone else for that matter) absolutely insane if they had to hear it over & over & over. ha ha ha

Well, 2011 is all about work, gang.  As usual, it is booked solid from here to Dec. 31st. But it is also going to be about traveling, too, so that will be fun. For sure New York & Paris. For almost-sure, Los Angeles. And with luck, England, as well. But as soon as I get all this WORK done, it will all be about tracking down that soulmate! Yay. I'm serious, I want an (opposite sex) Yoko Ono or a Patti Hansen of my own for the next 50 years (b/c I do plan on being like Manoel De Oliveira and creating masterpieces until I'm at least 102 years old & let's face it, I want to hang out with someone who's really intense & cool!)

Okay, I hope everybody has a great weekend and that no one out there has to work too hard! See ya in the funny papers, gang! Happy 2011.
