This popped into my iTunes when I thought I was listening to something else. It totally stunned me.
It's me! This is a song I wrote in 1981, back when I first moved to New York City and started playing at Gerde's Folk City and at the Speakeasy on MacDougal Street, and this other cool place that is actually still alive & kicking in the West Village but its name escapes me right now! (Oh, wait -- Cornelia Street Cafe!) (Yes, it was at the legendary Cornelia Street Cafe that the up & coming Suzanne Vega was first exceedingly kind to me and then basically snubbed me ferociously forever after...) (If you think that those myths you hear about show business being really backstabbing & vicious & petty & cruel --- guess what! They aren't myths! They're hard cold facts, my wee bonnie babes!)
This song was actually a very popular little number. Some other duo picked it and used to play it. I don't remember now who they were.
