Just too cute!!
Okay, gang, I cannot figure out how to embed a YouTube video into my blog post (I guess b/c I can't figure out how to download the YouTube video -- do they not let you do that anymore??? The only way I can post a video is to download it first.). So I can only post the link here, but it is to this really, really CUTE video that my cousin sent me of a bunch of pets & other animals singing "Deck the Halls." It is so freakin' adorable!! I laughed out loud at most of it.
Click here . The video is about 3 minutes. (And especially stay tuned to the very, very, very final frame, after the "thank yous", of the fluffy calico cat with the "Merry Christmas" bow around her neck! Nothing says "Merry Christmas" quite like a cat who is clearly thinking "I despise you -- are you happy now?" ha ha)
Okay!
Today is kind of a free day for me, gang! Yay! Well, I have a 3-hour phone conference with my screenwriting partner this afternoon, but other than that, today is going to be about baking Christmas cookies!!! Yippee ki yi yay! I am only making one kind this year, because frankly I don't know many people around here and I don't have time to slave away in the kitchen as I did in my infamous New York City days (I used to bake 15 different kinds of cookies every Christmas, and each variety was 2 or 3 batches. That equals lots of cookies, gang! But then I knew lots of cool people and every one of them would stop buy and get cookies. Ah, the Ghost of Christmas Past -- what incredible memories. I am so lucky to have known so much joy.)
Anyway, I'm making chocolate chip cookies with red & green M&M's mixed in them. Easy. Fun. Tasty!! Yum. In fact, when I went to the store to buy the red & green M&M's, I was specifically looking for the dark chocolate ones (I'm a fiend for dark chocolate), but I could only find the dark chocolate ones with peanuts in them. You can't use those in the cookies, they have to be plain M&M's, HOWEVER... it is possible to simply eat the dark chocolate M&M's with peanuts in them and then buy an additional bag of plain old red & green M&M's for putting into the cookies.
Do I have to paint a freakin' picture for you??? Can you say: "They were on sale; two 12.6 ounce bags for $6.00?" Can you say: "I bought four bags"?? Can you further say: "I am eating them all by myself and I haven't even begun baking the cookies yet"????
I rest my case.
Or, I digress -- as the case may be.
That thoroughly explained... I will now regale you with the best part of the cookie-baking process this year: a brand new apron that just SCREAMED "Buy me, Marilyn!!" It is so indescribably retro! Wow! I fell in love at first sight. As loyal readers of this lofty blog know far too well, I am not good with a camera, but I hope you can see how fucking cute this apron is! Nothing says "Chain me to the kitchen" quite like this apron does, does it, gang???

On other merry fronts...
Remember how, back in August, I got that free brand new energy star Frigidaire refrigerator from that government program that was helping owners of older homes make their houses more energy efficient? Well, guess what! I was informed the other day that I am also getting a brand new fucking furnace -- for FREE! They are coming to take measurements today. And not a moment too soon, as my old furnace decided to suddenly start lurching off into the old-furnace sunset. We are hanging on by a thread around here, gang -- in regards to the old furnace. It is 14 degrees outside right now, & snowing. Sometimes the furnace decides to kick on & make the house super hot; sometimes it just sits there and stubbornly refuses to make a sound. Need I say more? I feel like we're walking on eggs around that guy! (The furnace, I mean.) "Please stay on; please stay on. I don't care how super incredibly hot it is getting in here..."
I must say, I am one incredibly rejoicing and grateful gal, though. A brand new energy star furnace for free! I do not know to what or to whom I owe all my incredible good fortune, but whoever it is, I am really, really grateful.
Okay!! Off to the kitchen now!! Thanks for visiting, gang. Have a great Wednesday, wherever you are & whatever magnificent thing you're doing. See ya!!
