1.) Even though I love the 1974 film version of The Great Gatsby, and even while I generally get uncomfortable at the thought of movies I love being re-made, I am very curious to see if the latest re-make of The Great Gatsby will actually pan out. It will allegedly star Leonardo Dicaprio as Gatsby and that "Spiderman" actor as Nick (for the life of me, I can't remember his fucking name! I can see his face perfectly!) Oh-- Toby Maguire. And then Carey Mulligan as Daisy. We shall see. Might be good! You never know.

2.) At least Disney is asking us to consider Johnny Depp in the Best Actor category (assuming we were voting members of the Academy, that is. Otherwise, they aren't asking us to consider anything whatsoever.). (I would really like to see this happen, though; at least acknowledge that the Mad Hatter was a really, really memorable character.) (I know, "memorable" is not usually what the Oscars are all about...) (I know, I know; I'm inching up onto my soapbox again...I will spare you!)

3.) The films Nowhere Boy and Howl both open today!! And I actually know about it before the films have left the theater!! Yay! (Click this link and see the great little & very old art deco theater where I usually go see indie films when I'm not totally consumed with deadlines & such!)
