William Powell & Johnny Depp, re-visited
As you can well guess, my wee bonny brain has not been able to let this go -- Johnny Depp, my favorite living actor, wanting to do a re-make of one of my most favorite films of all time, The Thin Man, that starred one of my most favorite actors, dead or alive, Wiliam Powell.
I'm in a good place about this now, though, b/c I'm seeing it in a whole new perspective. I think I was just jealous b/c I'm not going to be included in this re-make in any way. Loyal readers of this lofty blog no doubt recall that I am almost always striving to live in the past -- the distant past, and in the distant past of old Hollywood, more than any other time. And since it didn't occur to me, while I was out there manifesting all these other lofty career goals, that becoming a world-famous movie star might behoove me somewhere down the line, I neglected to manifest that goal, and so I will not be re-making The Thin Man; I will not be re-living one of my most favorite times in all of history, alas, anytime soon.
So I guess suffering through watching Johnny Depp do it instead will have to suffice! I at least know these things for certain: He will be incredible at it, and he will not win an Oscar for it! (Okay, okay, I will retract that last prophecy of doom. Sorry.)
But I'm really wondering who on earth can play the Myrna Loy role? I cannot imagine any modern-day actress out there who could pull it off. It has to be a woman who is perky, smart, savvy, loving, funny, strong but supportive, and ultimately adorable. Oh wait!! I know!! Angelina Jolie! Can't you just see it? (I sure fucking hope not.)
In other news.
I'm at long last getting a massage today. I cannot wait. I haven't had one in months. I am still under a couple of deadlines, gang, plus I have another editing job to do this weekend, plus a lot of cooking I want to get done... Where does the time go? I don't know! And it doesn't really matter since for about 90 minutes of the current 48 hours that are underway here, I will be in Blissville! With any luck, I'll see you there, gang! Thanks for visiting!! And keep the faith -- in whatever way works best for you.

I think only Scarlett Johanssen is sassy enough for that role.
