Driving alone in the tall corn fields
Wow, what a great day! What an amazing drive on 3 hours' worth of 2-lane back roads. So beautiful! Such perfect weather. All those farms and barns and gorgeous old trees and farm houses and horses and cows. And, yes, Menonites in their horses & buggies out there on the roads, too (they're sort of like Amish people).
And more importantly, I had such a wonderful time with the writers group up in Mansfield. A really talented group of writers -- very interactive and engaging. I couldn't have had a more perfect time.
An interesting note: the group meets in a community center connected to the Sheriff's department. When I went in another room to use the bathroom, I really swear I was in an old morgue. There was a covered pool table and a vending machine in there but it still just looked like it used to be the morgue. How unusual -- I certainly wasn't expecting that!
Anyway, I had the most perfect day all the way around. I feel really blessed.
