Yesterday's 1970's Love Fest

See post below re: Summer of '42 -- the 1970's love fest continued in the evening, when Fluffy and I watched -- yes!! another of my all-time favorite movies!! -- Love Story ! Why is it that I never get tired of this film??? I first saw it when I was 10 years old and sobbed my fucking heart out when Ali McGraw's character died at the end. I no longer sob my fucking heart out, but there is some intangible quality to this film that is just SO 1970 and I just love it.

Then, after that, there was a 'cat switch' and it was all about me & Buster watching Cocteau's Orpheus (French, 1949). This is a superb film, gang. Just amazing to watch. But if your French is slipping and you need to keep checking those subtitles (not me, but Buster was having some trouble with his French last night, plus he'd had a little too much red wine), then the film could get a little complicated and you might find yourself falling asleep in the middle of it. (That's what happened to Buster, not me.) (Okay, okay -- that's what happened to me. What happened to Buster was that he gave up on all that French and went down to the family room to stalk whatever it is he stalks by staying glued to the family room window at night.)

Today, if I can find time, it's going to be one of those movies I love to watch in the fall: The Trouble with Angels . Yay!! (For some reason, I love to watch girl-coming-of-age movies in the early fall.) I love Hayley Mills -- her accent is too fucking cute! (yes, I also love Pollyanna and the original Parent Trap.) (I just love everything, don't I??) (Actually, I don't, gang. I know it seems hard to believe but there are literally thousands of movies that I don't love. Peckinpah's Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia springs to mind! My adoptive father took me to see that film  when I was 14 and I was, like, totally traumatized by it. God, I hated it. What a disturbing film for a 14 year-old girl. Anyway.) And then at some point after that movie -- but probably more like during the week sometime -- it'll be another fall girl-coming-of-age story that I love: The World of Henry Orient . (I absolutely LOVE Angela Lansbury and Paula Prentiss!! Yay!!) (I sometimes love Peter Sellers, too, but not always.) (But I do absolutely love, love, love this film!)

So there you have it.  When I'm not dinking around with the web site updates and/or trying to get some writing done today, I'll be glued to the past, as usual. Hope your Sunday pans out just as sweet, gang, wherever you are!! Thanks for visiting. See ya.
