A whopping 63!
Degrees, that is. And when I first set out on my walk this morning, it had already climbed to 61, so clearly another heatwave is on it's way.
Wow, gang. What an incredible morning out there. Blue sky, puffy white clouds, no humidity, and almost cool enough for a sweater. Even though fall weather is still about 2 months away, it was that first summer morning, that always seems to come in August, where you can feel the seed of fall getting planted down in there somewhere. It's in the air. It's in the je ne sais quoi quality of the early morning light. It's in the pervasive sound of crickets and the receding racket of those stereophonic cicadas.
My yard, while absolutely brimming with weeds and way more honeysuckle than you can even imagine, gang (as soon as the honeysuckle starts really blooming here in a couple weeks, I will share the photos with you and your jaw will fucking drop), the yard is so incredibly serene this morning. I regale you!! Here we are at 8:30 AM:

If you look at that monstrosity of growth there between the little white utility house on the left, and the tiny grey potting shed on the right (near the swing) --- loyal readers of this lofty blog will no doubt recall that there is a quaint wooden birdhouse on a tall wooden post buried in there somewhere!! Oh well. I gave up on the weeds weeks ago. It was such a hot and humid summer there was just no way to compete with all of it so I let it go. But the upshot of that is that everything sure is green out there, and everything that could have blossomed sure did blossom -- more than I've ever seen around here before -- and it's very secluded and cozy back there, that's for sure.
Just in time for a return visit from Laurie from Savannah! Yay. I can't wait, gang. She arrives tomorrow (along with my brand new Frigidaire!!) (Although she's not bringing it; it's just arriving on the same day.) She is bringing wine, however, so, clearly, things are looking up for me all the way around.
I know; most of you happy & humble readers (especially those of you who aren't connected with me in some way on facebook) are probably not aware that I am single again, and that I am not returning to Paris in October as planned, or that I am seriously behind schedule on the memoir b/c I can't focus or think straight right now. But it'll get better; it always does. Heck, I'm getting a brand new and absolutely free Frigidaire! and you can't beat that. This is my very first brand new refrigerator, gang. I've always just lived places that already had refrigerators.(i.e., all my many apartments in New York.) So this is really cool for me. It's like adopting a new pet, or something; I can't wait to see what it's going to to look like!
In fact, I will increase the anticipation. Here's a photo of the current, non-energy efficient Sears model from 1999 (minus the many, many refrigerator magnets that it is usually festooned with!):

And sometime tomorrow, we'll see what the new one looks like!! Now, how's that for a heck of a good reason to stick around for at least 24 more hours???
Okay, going to get moving around here. Try to do some yoga, then off to have a little lunch with Mom. Thanks for visiting, folks. Have a happy Tuesday, wherever if finds you. And remember: Fight the good fight and just keep swinging! See ya.
