The art of the synopsis!

Why, yes! That's me! Or it was me -- last evening. Prior to the arrival of the magical fireflies.

The kind and lovely agent  had informed me yesterday afternoon that a one-page synopsis of my Valentino novel was needed post-haste.

"Not a problem, " I assured her. "I'm on it!" I further assured her that I would have it to her "by the end of the workday." However, I was wisely calculating that "workday" to be occurring in some far off and exotic time zone; far, far away from here! ha ha.

What is it about those freakin' synopses, gang??? Why do they so fucking suck to write?? Crap. And to fit nearly 600 pages down into one page is really just kind of ridiculous. I finally did it, after 5 hours, but then, of course, it occurs to me: "You know, the synopsis is supposed to make a total stranger want to read the book, Marilyn. Not just make them marvel at how much gobbledy-gook you can cram onto a single page!"

So, technically, I did get the synopsis off to the agent by 10 PM last evening, Eastern time. But I have no idea if it makes any sense. I think today will be all about "polishing," don't you???

Well, that and a baseball game this evening...

Meanwhile, bliss is here! By that, I mean that I've decided to give up thinking. I've just sworn it off completely. Since I can't make any sense of life and its perplexities, I've decided to quite trying! Yay! (I'm only half-serious...) We'll see how long that lasts. For now, though, this is what it looks like on the inside of my head...

And here's how I look on the outside!!

(See? Giving up thinking can really do blissful things to a gal's appearance, can't it??)

Okay!! See ya, gang! Now go out there and fight the good fight! And thanks for visiting.

Ah, the serenity of the field ... the peaceful and orderly rows.
And that cute, smiling face. Not a care in the world.
I may give up thinking, too.

You always "get" me! Why is that? I don't need to know the answer, you know. It makes me feel happy, regardless.
