How cool is this?
Did you see this AP article?
"Among the movies found in storage [in New Zealand] are a copy of John Ford's 'Upstream,' the earliest surviving movie by comic actor and director Mabel Normand [YAY!!!!] and a period drama starring 1920s screen icon Clara Bow [yay!! again!!]. Only 15 percent of the silent films made by Ford, who won four Oscars, have survived."
This is so cool. I wonder when they are going to call me to come over and take a look at them???? (I love Mabel Normand.)
Okay, at the risk of sounding like a very happy broken-record... Thanks to all of you who continue to download the free preview of Freak Parade, and also to that really nice person among you who actually purchased it in trade paper !! Thanks, thanks, thanks!
The official release of the book, globally, isn't until mid to late July, but I really appreciate all this early interest in the novel, gang. You are really the greatest!!
On the weather front....
The weather continues to be spectacular here after all that really awful weather we had late last week. Blue skies, barely 60 degrees in the morning when I take my walk, and everything far & wide is really green and/or really blossoming!
Thursday is going to be a big day around here b/c I was once again given some really great VIP tickets to the baseball game! (I think that I only care that they're VIP tickets, not that it's baseball. We get to go up to that private club room that is really, really fun. I am going to try to remember to take pictures this time! We shall see if the memory mechanism that came included with my brain will be working or not!)
And also... hold onto your hats and check this out!! Not only am I a sucker for VIP this & that, I also LOVE to go camping in really, really non-VIP type places.
Luckily, Jay loves to go camping, too, so one of these days here soon, we're going to load up the tent, the sleeping bags, the little Coleman stove-type stuff, and off we'll go!! (Actually, this particular campground has toilets & showers so we won't be roughing it too much. The only real challenges will be of the insect variety!)
Okay well! I leave you with these various disparate images b/c I gotta get back to work around here, gang. As usual, time's a-wastin'! But thanks for visiting!!
Mabel Normand

Weird stick insect found at someone's campsite (I've actually seen these guys before! They're cool)

See ya!
