Chow your way to weight loss!

Four Coronas and a freakin'  taco pizza last night!!! AAAaaarrrrgh! And to make matters worse, I've been fighting a cold so I skipped working out at the club yesterday.

However....

It was my idea to go out to eat last night and, alas, we had a really fun time. There were a couple of girl singers there, though, who had pretty voices but who were singing way too loud. So when we got tired of screaming at each other, we came home, and then I played DJ for a little while.

It started out harmlessly enough. I regaled Jay with several selections from Y'ALL CDs, from back when they still lived and performed in New York and I was part of their Cowgirl Chorus.

From there, I moved to the "Dedication Hour" and picked out songs especially for him:

KD Lang: I'm Down to My Last Cigarette and I Wish I Didn't Love You So (if you don't own Shadowland, gang, what the heck are you waiting for??? It's one of the best albums ever made.)
Garth Brooks: The Dance
Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn & Tammy Wynette: Sitting on the Front Porch Swing and (It Wasn't God Who Made) Honky Tonk Angels
Tish Hinojosa: Closer Still and Corazon Viajero (this is one of my all-time favorite songs)
Iris Dement: Mama's Opry and Our Town
The Judds: Love is Alive and Mama He's Crazy
Vanessa Paradis: Marilyn & John (I love the way Vanessa Paradis says the name "Marilyn" -- it's like an angel; I could listen to that sound everyday for the rest of my non-egocentric life!)
The Real Tuesday Weld: The Eternal Seduction of Eve
Marc Anthony: I Need to Know
Dolly Parton: Before the Next Teardrop Falls; For the Good Times; and You Left Me Just When I Needed You Most

and then we finished off the Coronas, as well as the evening, with Randy Travis: Forever & Ever, Amen and He Walked On Water.

And if that hadn't been fun enough, we turned out the lights, got in bed and then suddenly spontaneously erupted in song together for another hour. We sang at the top of our lungs, in the dark. Selections from The Sound of Music, Mary Poppins, My Fair Lady, Man of La Mancha, The Music Man, Peter Pan, Annie, Paint Your Wagon, Oklahoma!, and even a little bit of Showboat ("Old Man River") thrown in. Although I tried to nip that one in the bud pretty quickly! (And even if I say so myself, we sounded pretty darn good together on "Edelweiss.")

Which is weirder, gang; that we like singing this stuff or that we both know all these freakin' songs??? A match made in heaven, obviously. And tonight it's the Jazz Orchestra's salute to Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong. Another evening out. Another dinner out. I think I'd better get to the club tomorrow... I'll let you know how it pans out! See ya, gang.
