It worked!

Laying low and retreating for a day really worked. I highly recommend it to anyone who wakes up one morning, finds he/she can't focus anymore, is reeling around inside and going, "what the fuck am I doing with my life? how did it come to this?" --  and then one's energy level suddenly plunges down through the floor, etc.

I guess you can fill in the blanks.

But by stopping everything and just basically staring and being quiet (okay, also by babbling on the phone incessantly to one's patient significant other, who was kind enough to say "you're not babbling" each time I interrupted my own self and said, "I'm sorry about this; I'm just babbling" ), the pieces started to fall back into place.

And my writing mentor once again came through with some great, common-sense advice about a writing plan to get any project back on track, regardless of what might be looming annoyingly in the future (see post below). So I did that -- drew up a simple plan of 10 pages of revisions a day that begins today. Then I did some yoga. Did a new meditation that truly rocked, and by day's end and night's beginning, I was feeling 1 trillion per cent better -- more focused.  Ready to get out there and pick up that pen! Yay team! Go! Go! Go! Write! Write! Write!

ha ha ha. But anyway.

For the sake of not freezing to death, I've moved my laptop out of my new office (my sun room at the back of the house, where I need a better heater) and back up to the dining room table. I don't get to watch the little animals scurrying around outside all day but I can stare at the Christmas tree, so that's pretty cool. Plus, well, I'm simply not freezing to death and I bet that's going to make for much more productive writing/editing around here, don't you think so, gang? We shall soon see.

Okay, then. Gotta get crackin' around here. Have 10 pages of revisions to do this morning before I go back, once again, to the freakin' grocery store to buy all that stuff I forgot to put in my cart yesterday b/c I was too goddamned distracted by my own insanity to think straight! Aaarrrgh! Have a great Tuesday, gang, wherever you are! Thanks for visiting. See ya.
