Yippee ki yi yay!
It's a brisk 18 degrees out there today, gang! No snow at all, thank you very much, but it's freakin' cold.
I've got a little space heater cranking away here in "my office" --better known as the non-heated World of Windows; great view but no insulation -- and I'm wearing 3 sweaters and those little gloves that have the fingertips cut out of them, so at least I can type! ha ha ha (btw, I'm wearing pants, too, lest you get any strange ideas... I may be a "super freak" -- see post below from yesterday -- but I'm not stupid.) (And just a little entertaining fyi: Rick James hit on me once right outside of the Plaza Hotel in NYC. This was in the early 80s at the absolute peak of his Super Freak fame. I'd like to say it was amusing, or even flattering, but it was actually incredibly unnerving. I was only about 21 years old and I was a lithe little (well, very tall) folk singer, you know? Plus he was trailing a couple of Super Freak groupies, and here was moi in my black tights, a black turtleneck sweater and a plaid jumper. I still had my long, straight, dark-brown folk-singing hair in those days, too. When you're a plaid-jumper-wearing, long-haired folk singer gal, having a Super Freak like Rick James fall instantly smitten with you on the front steps of the Plaza Hotel is a scary thing. Apparently, though, he could predict the future predalictions of bonnie young folk singers with his Super Freak Radar that could see through plaid jumpers...)
[The late Rick James with a non-plaid-jumper-wearing girl who is not me]
Anyway. Okay!
There are about 20 sparrows, 2 squirrels and 1 woodpecker out in the backyard right now. They seem to be having the time of their lives. They clearly could not care less about its being only 18 degrees out there. The bird bath is, of course, frozen solid but there's plenty of food to go around. So all's right with the world in these parts.
Big changes coming to the blog & web site in 2010, gang! I'm really, really excited about it. I'll keep you posted as we get closer to the new year, but all I can say for now is that it's going to be a whole lot of fun!! So stay tuned... Thanks for visiting, guys. Have a great Sunday wherever you are! See ya.
