What I'm Listening To

Lest you were thinking (wrongly!) that all I do anymore is go out and see films about voter fraud or constantly scan the New York Times for increasingly horrible articles about the state of our union...

I've been listening to (pretty much over & over without stopping for several days now):

Being With You by Smokey Robinson
Follow Me by Uncle Kracker
Fields of Gold by Sting
Somebody's Me by Enrique Iglesias

I've been watching (on the DVD/VCR in the bedroom before falling asleep at night, or while falling asleep at night, actually):

Arsenic & Old Lace
Lovers & Other Strangers
Dracula (Bela Lugosi version)
The World of Henry Orient
It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!
Edward Scissorhands
Diner
Ed Wood

I've been drinking while watching (watching movies, that is; I'm not, like, a voyeur or anything):

Pretty much nothing! I know, unheard of pour moi!
Except the occasional Miller High Life long neck -- not because I like the beer, but more because I like the bottle; it's pretty snazzy looking, all gold & tall & foamy, and looks good on my retro night table.

I'm reading:

The Alcoholic a graphic novel by Jonathan Ames & Dean Haspiel
A Season in Hell by Arthur Rimbaud (a decent Louise Varese translation from 1952 that I've owned since about 1982)

In the kitchen, I've been baking/cooking:

Squash soup
Pumpkin bread
Oatmeal Chocolate Chip cookie bars
Pumpkin puree
Homemade Vegetable Sauce (over & over & over) for various kinds of organic pasta
The never-ending salads

I haven't been doing much walking lately, just doing yoga for now, because I need every leftover moment to work on the new novel.

I have a quasi-date (maybe) on Wednesday evening. We'll see. Just for a cup of coffee.

Thursday I might be driving to Indiana to see Michael Hemmingson for a few hours but I don't know if my car is up to that. (Michael will be in Indiana from Hollywood, USA doing research on William Vollman in some University library or other.)

And...my uncle's in town from Virginia, visiting for a week! (Not much going on in my life, is there???)
