That was pretty cool
A big thank you to all who turned out for the film festival screening last night at Studio 35. (Can you believe I had not been to that theater in over 30 years and it still looked exactly the same? I think most of the folks in attendance last night weren't even born the last time I was in that movie theater.)
Anyway. Okay. It was established long ago that I am indescribably old now... but I did win an award for Best Dressed. (Just kidding. I didn't win an award for Best Dressed. Okay. I didn't win an award for anything.)
Onward.
The film last night was another one of those Ohio voting fraud documentaries that make you feel like crying for everything you believed about America when you were, like, 6 years old, followed by the VP debate. I left early on in the debate, though, because Palin makes me want to tear my hair out. Everyone else in the 100% non-Republican crowd laughed at her but I thought to myself : This is not so funny, gang. This woman is running for VP of the United States and could seriously win just on caging and voter fraud alone...
Well in other local movie news... The Cow Town film series continues to astound. Obviously, I couldn't make it to last night's screening because I was elsewhere (as has been well-documented by my non-award-winning appearance above), but apparently there was a killer turn out: over 200. And that's for a locally made feature film, gang.
And speaking of old movie theaters... The Cow Town Series screens at the Continent. 30 years ago, that was the most beautiful, most chic place in the entire city. And now... well, I leave it to your sorrow-filled imaginations as to what has happened to it, gang.
And on other screens... this weekend is Ohio's version of Comic Con. The film festival begins Saturday morning at 10:30 AM and goes pretty much all weekend until Sunday afternoon at 3:30. Sadly, I will not be there. But I did notice there were actually a couple of WOMEN filmmakers in their line-up. Jesus, it's about time. What are there, like, 4 women making movies in the entire state of Ohio? That's what it seems like, anyway.
Okay, gang. Tons more work to tackle on the new novel. But it is still going swimmingly. So I'm pretty happy about that. And it's October, my most favorite month of the year! Now, if only I could start dating again and really go the distance this time. (The gf and I parted about a month ago. ) I know, I know -- who has time to date around here? Obviously not me. But I can dream, can't I?
Here's hoping that things are really dreamy wherever you're at this weekend, gang! As always, thanks for visiting. See ya!
