Oy (sigh) & Ouch

You might want to read this. It's Naomi Wolf's latest post on the Huffington Post:

"I just flew back from Australia, where I was speaking about the erosions of our civil liberties. Believe me, the rest of the world is agog at our inaction as what makes us Americans is being set aflame; and they are more scared of what an unsheathed US could do to the rest of the world than we are. They also get more news out in the rest of the world about these depredations than we do here in our media bubble...." (The rest of the sordid truth is here.)

Bad Weather Reigns!

Well, I have a few errands to run today, but other than that, I plan on hanging out in my living room, watching the snow fall outside my large picture windows, while writing the new novel. Yay! Sounds like a great day, doesn't it? However, the last time I thought I was going to have a perfect day (see one of the posts below), all plans went astray as friends in need popped up everywhere. But that's okay. It's what life is about, really.

Michele in Paris sent me this cartoon that I thought was really cute (I apologize to any of you dog lovers out there):

And here is the latest update from Carol Queen and the Center for Sex and Culture in San Francisco:

Hi everyone! Greetings to all our new list members!

This is a great month coming up, with something for just about everyone -- porn read by virgins (well, maybe virgin *readers*), the return of S. Bear Bergman, Veronica Monet talking about Sacred prostitution, a bookparty celebrating radical sexual healers -- and crafts! Also, Tobi Hill-Meyers graces us with another erotica reading and discussion of genderqueer lit. Plus, an exciting announcement from Nora Dye of Wanderlust fame -- she's biking across country again (or across a good part of it, anyway), and this time, you're invited! See the very end of this newsletter for more about Nora's ride.

Please note that if you want to attend Heron Saline's March "Awakened Mindfuck" workshop, he needs to hear from you by March 3.

Also, two great events are coming up that we haven't received write-ups for, but we want you to know about them anyway -- save the dates for the Barely Legal party given by a passel of Lusty Ladies on Friday, 3/14, and on the following Friday, Lynn Comella, a professor and Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual & Transgender Co-Chair at U Nevada - Las Vegas, will be here to discuss her latest research. There will be more about both of these events in the next calendar, which should come out on the 12th or 13th.

We're still looking for silent auction items for our Reclaiming Eros extravaganza on Easter Sunday (March 23) -- if you have something to donate or know someone who does, you will receive our sincere gratitude and a tax letter! And if you want to help out at that event, let us know.

Spring is in the air this week! Stay lusty til it's here...

Events with a *star are new to this newsletter. How it works: the first listing is ours: CSC-sponsored events, events held at CSC, and events co-sponsored by or benefiting CSC. They are followed by brief save-the-date listings, then the second half is a list of other people's events and announcements which may be of interest to you. Both lists are boiled down to a table of contents, just below this note.

In this newsletter:
Advanced Nude Yogaplay for Men -- 3/3
CSC Crafts and Collage Night! -- 3/5
Fresh Dirt: filthy new erotica -- 3/8
*Writers with Drinks -- 3/8
Personal Thinking Patterns and Sex -- 3/9
*SF Jacks -- 3/10
S. Bear Bergman on Chivalry -- 3/12
Barely Legal Party -- 3/14 (detail next time)
*Veronica Monet on the Sacred Prostitute and the Modern Courtesan -- 3/15
*Reading -- Tobi Hill-Meyer! -- 3/19
*Nude Yogashare for Men -- 3/23 (morning)
*Reclaiming Eros: Sacred Whores and Healers Bookparty and Extravaganza -- 3/23 evening
*SF Jacks -- 3/24
*Divas of San Francisco -- 3/30

That's the news for today, gang! Thanks for visiting!
