will present the I AM A LEGEND AWARDS on Tuesday,
February 19, 2008 to Russell Simmons presents Def Poetry
spoken word artists, actors and activists EMANUEL XAVIER
and CARIDAD DE LA LUZ (LA BRUJA) for their many
contributions throughout the years to queer and Latino culture. Both New York
City based poets will be at hand to accept their awards and perform at the
legendary Got2b(2) @ Ocean party. The awards will be sponsored
by Gay & Lesbian Happy Face of NYC, The House of Xtravaganza, Splash
Bar New York and Yamil X. The event will be hosted by
El Grito De Poeta's Simply Rob.
Gay & Lesbian Happy Face of NYC is a new organization
dedicated to helping the Latino community find educational resources in New York
and Puerto Rico. The House of Xtravaganza celebrates 25 years of providing
ballroom culture.
