Alas...

...the scanning idea did not work. The pages of the book are made from recycled paper and, while environmentally friendly, they age rapidly and are already too brown to scan effectively. How exciting! How exhilarating! Guess what I get to do every waking moment of this coming month?

Did you say, "Type the entire novel over from scratch while revising it"?

Oui, mes amis. C'est triste mais c'est vrai. (Sad, but true.)

Even though I had high hopes of attending a couple house parties in January (i.e., have a ton of sex with a ton of eager people in the space of a few hours in somebody else's home), and had high hopes of attending some rather more sedate and responsibility-laden affairs as well, in a Vera Wang cocktail dress, no less, and some killer Gucci high heels, it looks like -- as usual -- I will be constantly working instead. (Why is the entire planet always striving against my many attempts at all-out hedonism? It is hard to say. All I know is that it is always doing it these days.)

Mom continues to recuperate nicely at the rehab center, but she won't be coming home until after the New Year. I guess, unlike Amy Winehouse (whom I LOVE, btw; her Back to Black is a fucking masterpiece IMHO), I will be spending New Year's Eve in a rehab. With mom. Tooting a little horn or something. But, as always, it could be worse.

Okay, better get typing around here. The clock's a-ticking and time's a-wasting. Have a great Sunday, gang, wherever you are!
