Sing-y Todd!

Yes, it was very much on the sing-y side, Sweeney Todd, that is -- one of the reasons I'm not wild about Sondheim musicals in general. I am much more of a Jerry Herman type of gal (big surprise there, I'm sure).

But that said, Sweeney Todd was a really entertaining movie. It is very bloody and creepy and funny and just all over Tim Burton-y. I love Alan Rickman and he's perfection in this role. And actually everyone else is pretty much perfection, too. Johnny Depp is a marvel, as always -- how he rises to the occasion, whatever it winds up being. He has a really wonderful singing voice. Sometimes he was so unexpectedly on key with a subtle but tricky musical note, that it was a little breathtaking.

Okay, on "that note," I really, really gotta get moving here today. At long last, the re-writes are really going well. Nothing like hitting your stride 3 minutes before the deadline... Well, perhaps I exaggerate but you know what I mean. I have labored over this darn thing for a couple months now and now that the pressure is really on, it is finally coming together. Thank god.

Plus mom gets out of the hospital today and gets transferred to the rehab center (most likely by moi and not by ambulance this time), so my whole life is topsy turvy, as usual. But thanks for visiting, gang! I'm really looking forward to a little break at Christmas... (not to mention a very much better and different New Year, for cryin' out loud!) See ya.
