On its way!
Last night, by the sheer grace of God, I suddenly felt compelled to go online one more time and try to find my ideal fake Christmas tree (at an affordable price, that is). And lo! and behold... My dream tree was not only on sale, but there was an additional special going on: absolutely free shipping! And an additional $15.00 off if I used that particular store's credit card before Thanksgiving (a card that I actually have even though I don't like to use credit cards).
So I bought it on the spot! And this is my real dream tree -- not the Martha Stewart one I went in search of last week. This is one of those indescribably fake white ones from retroland! Yay! So now I will have Christmas in my 1957 retro dream house with a retro dream tree to match. I couldn't be happier. It's supposed to arrive this Friday:

And for Christmas a few years ago, my good friend Paul in NYC, sent me Volumes I and II of the CD, Music for TV Dinners. The CDs are incredible. It's all this upbeat, happy muzak from TV commercials, background music, etc., from the 1950s & 60s. It's hysterical, it is so upbeat. And you can't help but think of all those 1950s sit-com housewives and their perfectly-in-place lives while listening to it. I think I will play this music while I'm decorating my tree.
Once, in happier days, when the plumber and I were on a road trip, I brought along Music for TV Dinners Vol. I and put it into the car's CD player. After about 10 minutes of this happy upbeat weird muzak stuff, he said, "Baby, what the hell are we listening to? It is so you."
