Out of my mind, as usual

Even while I've been here laboring away over a new short story for an upcoming deadline...I was informed by the editor over the weekend that I'd already missed my deadline by several days! I am really in some sort of la-la land around here, folks. It's the 2nd deadline in a row where this has happened to me. And this is after nearly 20 years of not missing a single deadline. AAaaaargh!

So, on I toil! on I scribble! as my deadline has been generously extended for another week (and then there's the added pressure that the story better be amazing because now they're sitting there, waiting for it, fingers impatiently tapping; eyes staring up at the clock).

And in the middle of that, came an email from my agent: "How ya doin' on that story for [editor's name here]?" Well....oh, just fine. (You don't want people who work with/for you to know for certain that you're out of your fucking mind. It's best to just leave it as a vague sort of wondering: is she or isn't she out of her fucking mind???)

So that's the news about moi. The news from others goes like this:

Out in San Francisco, Carol Queen of the Center for Sex and Culture writes:

I received a note about the Bay Area Bisexual Network shindig next Sunday saying there will be NO ticket sales at the door and RSVPs must be in by Weds. at the latest (so the caterers can get enough notice). So if you have thought about going, please take the time to RSVP now. Please support this great organization if you can! Also, please note they've added a very exciting element to the proceedings: Rob Yaeger will MC and entertain! Rob is one of the funniest people on the planet and his appearances in the Bay Area are rare, since he lives the the Twin Cities, a known bisexual paradise. (We brought him to headline Bi and For the People with Annie Sprinkle five years ago and I don't believe he's performed here since.) More about Rob:

Rob Yaeger is the earth's only multi-gender affectional, sex radical,
frequently kinky, Catholic-raised agnostic atheist, safer sex educating,
sensitive but not too sensitive, biologically-born male occasional stand-up
comedian. A Google search will reveal two mentions on the website of the
right-wing Concerned Women for America. This makes him happy.
