My loathing of Vista and Microsoft continues...

This time, it locked me out of ALL my new Word docs. One of which was to be on my agent's desk -- or desk top, as it were -- last week. Another of which was 100 pages of my newest book-in-progress -- a backup file copy of which exists nowhere. Another of which is a story-in-progress that's due in 2 weeks (and which I have now totally & completely lost and must begin again, posthaste).

It's been really, really fun. I have managed to not break down in tears of rage and frustration, though, which is even more fun.  Yay! I've just sort of been quietly despairing and acting as if everything were fine, as if my career and hence my life, weren't falling to pieces before my very eyes.

But I have to say that my friends hither and yon are the greatest. Thanks to Gary on Long Island for finding the downloads that helped unlock my documents.

In a moment of tender empathy, Fluffy, sensing my quiet despair and the falling-to-pieces quality of my life over the last several days, pitched in and helped me change the bed sheets on laundry day. She is pictured below in the throes of "helpfulness".
