Yes, you might even be very loyal readers of this lofty blog and yet have no idea that I love ice hockey. Sadly, though, with my move to Happyland, Ohio, I have had to say good-bye to the Eastern Conference and all the teams I care about  (the Penguins, the Flyers, the Maple Leafs, the Devils, the Sabres). I now live in the Western Conference zone, which has no teams I really care about. However, I guess I will have to learn to care or there will be no ice hockey pour moi.

The Chicago Blackhawks played the Columbus Blue Jackets last night in what looks like a really exciting game, score-wise. I am hoping to make it to the arena on October 5th (if I can afford the one ticket that's still left) when the Blue Jackets play the mighty Anaheim Ducks, but I am really interested in seeing them play the Detroit Red Wings. For those of you non-hockey fans...you will no doubt notice that the Columbus Blue Jackets were named after a great Shawnee Indian, Chief Blue Jacket, who just so happens to have killed my great-great-great (etc.) Uncle John on the Ohio River a very long time ago.
