Well, all righty!
Now that my publishing career no longer exists... (see post from that weird day from hell below)
Onward! As always.
At least the weather has been consistently beautiful and my gardens are really, really thriving (some weeds are still thirving, as well, but I'm getting there.) And mulch should be arriving any day now. My house is starting to look as if a grown-up (or two) actually lives here!
Well, work-wise, I am still working on the current novel but falling way, way, way behind schedule. I have totally lost the vibe for it. It is nowhere. I look at the half-written page on the computer screen and have no connection to the characters at all. I hate when that happens. Tuesday, I was actually making good progress on it when suddenly my computer crashed and would not get back up. So off to the Geek Squad it went. Now that I have it back, thank god, I find that I've lost that thread...
I'm sure it will eventually return. After all, all those other books of mine that once oh-so-recently had publishers, eventually got past the abyss of blankness and moved on to completion and then publication (and now they get to experience the unique pleasure of obscurity! What could be more well-rounded than that?)
Meanwhile, I am also gearing up to at long last write what has become known among my many admirerers as The Valentino Novel. It's title is actually Twilight of the Immortal. It is scheduled to be front and center on my laptop beginning in August. I'm very, very excited about that.
Okay, then, here's some news from others.
Velvet Mafia.com updates with its Go to Your Room issue:
Velvet Mafia enlists a squadron of Young Punks for our special "under 35" issue. These kids prove they're no Twinkies and deliver some intense erotic and literary fiction. Abusive boyfriends, loving boyfriends, werewolf boyfriends, and sexy fuck buddies populate the imaginations of our newest crop of authors. Sink your teeth and nether parts into our delectable current issue.
And from NYC-based poet extraordinaire, Emanuel Xavier, comes this update:
"Emanuel Xavier launched the House of Xavier in 1998 and introduced the Glam Slam to the literary arts scene as a tribute to the gay ball competitions which had influenced him and brought the poetry slams to a whole new level of inspiration and entertainment. After staging several events within the ball and spoken word communities, the House of Xavier established the Glam Slam as a unique and vibrant contribution toNew York
City culture."
Be sure to visit House of Xavier for rules & confirmation of entry, etc.
On that happy note, thanks for visiting, gang! Have a great Staurday, wherever you are!
