More news from Claire Thompson

Lady Jaided, the online magazine from Ellora's Cave, features an article this month written by Claire Thompson, all about why she chose to start writing male/male erotic romance. You can read the article here: "A Passion for Man Love"

Well

In case you're wondering what the heck's been up with me lately, I'll give you the scoop. I put aside the current novel to fulfill a quick short story request. I know -- I keep telling everyone that I don't write short stories anymore, that I don't have time. And yet, every once in a while, an editor sends me a request for a submission that really captures my interest, so on we go. I've been working on this current one, "Lucky Losers," all week. Today I will most likely finish it. It only needs about one more paragraph to tie it up.

Other than that, I've been spending an hour or so each morning & evening, weeding my many beautiful gardens. I have peonies, begonias, lillies-of-the-valley, azaleas, and, yes!, roses all on the way! It is quite exciting for little me. And I have discovered that the whole process of weeding gets very addictive for me.  I guess because it's that instant feeling of accomplishment, along with the repetitive motions. I close my eyes at night and can still see/feel myself weeding! And I have, like, bionic vision now. I can be standing in my kitchen making a cup of coffee, glance casually out my kitchen window and zero right in on a single sprig of clover and want to dash right outside and jerk it up by its helpless little roots...

I don't actually do it, but the fact that all I see everywhere now are weeds that need annihilating is kind of comical. I was never like this until now.

So, how 'bout that Brando doc?!

Have you been watching that new documentary TCM's been running the last two nights on Marlon Brando? It was extremely watchable. I really enjoyed it.  I thought that John Turturro and Al Pacino gave the best comments. And then towards the end of Part 2, which was last night, Johnny Depp was very amusing. (Do you even remember Don Juan DeMarco? I absolutely, totally, 100% loved that movie. I watched it so many times, back in the mid-90s, that I pretty much had the entire dialogue memorized. Really, I loved it. And yet I only knew about 2 other people on the planet who had even seen it. So weird.)

However... back to the doc: as a woman, I am really, really glad I never had occasion to be seduced by Marlon Brando! I don't think it would have been easy to survive that. He seems to have really had some, well, issues is putting it nicely.
